The AEC M&E Framework is built based on an intervention logic between the core elements of M&E which is presented as a results chain. The results chain demonstrates the conceptual relationship between the four-tiered elements of M&E;
Inputs : Resource to enable task to generate outputs
Outputs : Tangible/physical items produced by tasks
Outcomes : Changes or benefits resulting from delivery of outputs
Impact : Long terms effects of outcomes, usually improvement to wider socio-economic environment.
At the base of the results chain is inputs & activities which would then contribute to outputs. Outputs then will contribute, either collectively or directly, to outcomes and outcomes create impact. The relationship between each tiered element could either be proportionate or collective.
